Breasts growing advertise the awakening of sexuality and fertility and a child maturing into womanhood, and unfortunately, we don’t have beautiful rituals to celebrate this amazing coming of age.
Most teenage girls are more troubled with shame and disgust of their bodies changing, rather than pride and a sense of new belonging to womanhood. Let’s change this.
Breasts are incredible and deserve all the attention they desire. Not the sleazy and distorted culturally fixated attention - but loving, appreciating, admiring attention. Self-attention first and foremost.
The breasts are a woman’s sexual window to the world, where she is either open and empowered, or insecure and scared. It’s a woman’s positive pole, her yang centre. It’s from where she penetrates the world.
Breasts, physiologically, are wired for a life-giving amazing task of creating mama juice (again a place where culture has a fucked up distorted relationship to tits) but also for…
You guessed it! PLEASURE!
The nipples and areola are composed of erectile tissue and respond to touch - an infant’s, a lover’s or nature’s breeze. But what many don’t know is that the areola is where the most pleasure happens, as the nipple is often too sensitive.
The nipples are connected to your endocrine system, and touching them lights up different glands in your brain and body, and can harmonise your energetically

Breast Massage – a foundational Taoist practice
Daily breast massage can create a wonderful self-love experience, love and acceptance of your breasts and active your body in a super juicy heart-centered way. Regular massage can also prime you for having breast orgasms. Pretty rad.
Step-by-step instructions
There are five steps to this breast massage. You can do it over your clothes or with your hands on bare skin. If you do the latter, I recommend using a skin-friendly body oil to enhance the experience (jojoba, almond or coconut for example)
Step 1
Sitting or lying down, put cup your breast firmly against your body. Smile down into your chest, filling your chest with love.
Add oil to your hands and slowly embrace your breast in each hand.
Step 2
Begin massaging your breasts, down on the outside, up on the inside. Keep breathing, long inhales, long exhales. Relax.
Notice any feelings or sensations in your breasts; hardness, pain, numbness, pleasure, shame, tingling.
As you massage in this direction, inhale into your heart, chest and breasts and exhale and release anything that no longer serves you or you don’t need. Let the exhale melt open your breasts, chest and heart.
This clears any stagnation, negativity or feelings of shame, unworthiness or heartbreak.
It is a really beautiful softening process. =
Keep massaging in a way that feels good, alternating pressure and speed.
Pause. Breath.
Step 3
Reverse the direction, massaging down on the inside, up on the outside.
Inhale and feel a building of energy, pleasure, vitality and beauty into your breasts, chest and heart.
Feel into your breasts and know that you can infuse any desired feeling to them; e.g. pleasure, juiciness, happiness, freedom. Keep breathing and massaging.
Pause. Cup your breast firmly against your body again.
Try as much as possible to stay connected to the breathing and the intentions on the inhale and exhale.
Step 4
Hold the breasts firmly and lightly shake them up and down while moving the hands to all different parts of the breasts. Feel and opening of love and softness into the breasts.
Step 5
Tell your beloved breasts (or your heart or yourself) what they need to hear; i.e. you are safe, you are loved, you are beautiful, you are fantastic.
Shower your breasts and heart with compliments.
Explaining the massage!
Step 1 is a taster of another foundational Taoist practice - the Inner Smile. Smiling into your body changes the vibration of your body and can be so healing.
Step 2 is a releasing movement that helps clear energy out, and that’s why you start in that direction so it opens up the flow of energy. This is why this helps with softening the breats and it can feel really healing.
Step 3 builds and invites energy in, so that can bring great feelings into the breasts. If you have any health condition in the breasts where increasing energy isn’t good, for example cancer, then you don’t want to do this direction of the massage according to the Taoist tradition. After any health condition has healed or cleared, you can do this direction.
If you have a health condition that isn’t cancerous, then you can do the direction in step 2, and focus on bringing in health and wellness.
Step 4 helps with increasing sensitivity, open up energy flow in the breasts and increases flow of lymph fluids and circulation.
Step 5 helps change their relationship to your breast and heart, which are two areas of the body that are very responsive to compliments. Depending on what you desire, you can either use the spiritual heart at the centre of the chest, or you can whisper to their actual physical heart.
Energetic explanation
In the Taoist tradition, the breasts and the heart are considered as the power space for women. The more energy this area has, the more a woman will feel empowered and alive. Women move through the world from this place - the positive pole of our bodies - and we penetrate the world with our emotional power and strength. (our genitals are our negative pole, where we are more receptive than penetrative)
It is so valuable to heal the breast and heart energy, you can heal and release over heartbreaks, rejection, lack of love as a child, feelings of not belonging or even intense body self-criticism through regular breast massage.
Since many women were taught to hide their power and their sexuality, a lot of women carry negativity within their breasts and tend to hide them, so it can be beautiful to restore confidence and love in this area.
Also, a connected heart space, an open heart, leads to better sex in many cases. Being open-hearted, even in casual sexual encounters can make sex more exquisite.
Physiological explanation
In the breast massage, you are activating oxytocin, a love and feeling good hormone in the body.
Regular breast massage can sensitize the breasts. As you clear emotional blockages through the massage it opens you up to feel more in this area of your body. But it also sensitizes you neurologically, as the vagus nerve innervates the area, and regular breast massage enhances the sensitivity of these nerve endings. It also builds the mind/body connection which makes the brain more sensitive to touch and sensations on the breasts. This can obviously lead to making sex feel better and more connected and also make stimulation of the breasts an appreciated part of the sexual experience.
In the beginning, when you do breast massage, you might not feel much. And that’s common and totally normal. Or, you might experience a release of a lot of pent-up emotions. Just keep going and work through it, accept what you feel, and eventually, you will restore a relationship of goodness, pleasure and celebration with your breasts.
It is totally safe to do this massage during pregnancy, in fact, I highly encourage it as it supports you to stay sensually connected to your body.
It’s also a very good practice for breastfeeding women. It helps with good circulation in the breasts and again, invites a feeling of being sensual as you are going big changes in your life and body.
