As the sexual beings that we are, we can choose to embrace our sexuality throughout our lifespan, treating it like a "work in progress" and keep seeking pleasure al-ways. There is a part of sexuality that is not talked about often, sexuality and cancer or any other long-term medical diagnosis, so this week's guest, Faith Laux, comes to share her experience with pleasure as an added healing modality, and shed some light on this very important topic.
Faith Laux is a Somatic Sex, Love and Relationships coach. Her transformational coaching helps her clients reconnect to the wisdom, intuition and enchantment of their body so that they are empowered to thrive sexually. She helps her clients prioritize their pleasure and delight in their sexual energy. In May of 2022 she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Since then, she has been adding pleasure as a healing modality alongside her treatments to help her thrive and enjoy life on an otherwise grueling journey. She has additional experience with shamanic healing and emotional empowerment which she weaves into her offerings. Mother, artist, wife, teacher and adventurer Faith seeks to normalize the conversation around sexuality, cancer and desire.
If you start thinking about healing as an integrative work, you can approach cancer and any other long-term diagnosis as a part of your life that can be welcomed, understood, nourished and even loved. Moving with it as opposed to rejecting it and desperately attempt to purge it, bringing in an opportunity to connect with a part of yourself that calls for your attention. This smooth dive into a different stage of life, allows you to integrate all your parts, including your sexuality, and pursue true wholeness. In many cases, an unresolved sexual issue can be, not only the source of emotional distress and a dimmed sexual life, but also of disease, and there lies the importance of integration.
Being honest, we know much of our lives revolve around sexuality! So this episode is an invitation to work on yourself, embrace your sexuality and never settle for the idea that the best sex of your life is behind you. And if you or a beloved one are going through cancer, Faith's story will be truly beneficial. Tune in!
