Activate your senses, activate your pleasure
Connecting with and activating your senses enriches your life.
Your body and brain move through this world by interpreting and reacting to reality through the sensory experience.
However, we live in a modern society that doesn’t really give attention to the five senses, it mostly cares about two of them: sight and hearing.
We only believe in what we can SEE.
But your human experience is so much richer than that and this richnes directly impacts your sexual experience.
Your five senses stimulate different parts of your brain, so activating them is a practical way of experiencing your sexuality with all parts of your brain.
Also, when you are tuning in to the five senses you are tapping into presence.
Being in the sense is being present.
This helps you get into your body, your nervous system, your presence which… ENHANCES your pleasure.
Because you’ve probably ignored your “less important” senses, you might need some practice and patience to get them back online, but if you persist, your sensory awareness will be activated and grow!
Another fascinating thing about the senses is the way the Tantric tradition explains their importance and connection to your deeper emotional and expressive experience:
Your five senses, according to Tantra, corresponds to different chakras
Smell – root chakra; connected to the primal, instinctual parts of you
Taste – sacral chakra; connected to the sensual, liquid part of you. (Your mouth and vagina connection!)
Sight – solar plexus chakra; connected to your belly and your will, fire, desire, creativity and ability to manifest
Touch – heart chakra; connected to your heart, compassion, joy and your interconnectedness
Hearing – throat chakra; connected to your high-level genius and inspiration
Think about it, doesn’t this intuitively feel so true? (And if it doesn’t, you don’t have to believe it)
SO what to do??
Play with your five senses in and outside the bedroom. Experiment with them. Get curios and explore how you can enhance and expand your pleasure and orgasms by being present with and through the five senses.
If you need some inspiration - here you go!
You can do this in and outside a sexual experience - solo or with someone else!
Sound:
Listen to music that you love, listen to the breeze in the treetops, to children/people laughing. You can also speak compliments to yourself and to others.
Your life can truly be a hedonistic feast of the senses!
It’s so simple but can feel so profoundly different and rich. Enjoy!
Love,
Erika
